Big Tent IV Dialogue open on 12 April

Groups of university and community networks have been coming together since 2010 to share information and call for further action to enhance community-university engagement. These discussions have been framed as 'Big Tent' dialogues.

Xploit - first version of learningcommunities.eu launched

The first version of the final and reorganized Xploit outcomes website is now launched.

It is really a first version, and it will be further developed during the next months.

However, most of the content is in place, so you are invited to take a look (please click the image):

 

Should you have important material for the different themes and sections, you are most welcome to let us know.

UNESCO Chair - GACER News - April 5, 2013

Rajesh and I are working on plans to combine our two mailing lists.  He has a one that he has used historically for his blogs of many years and I have maintained this list for the past 3-4 years.  Our plans are to continue to send our blogs out at least twice a month, but have them posted as well on our UNESCO Chair web site.

Development of a Network of Learning Cities & the Learning Cities Index - Dumfries, March 27, 2013

Strathclyde University Discussion - Cities East and West

Hosted by the Centre for Lifelong Learning (CLL) on Monday 25 July 2013, Peter Kearns opened the discussion with a presentation on the globalised approach to developing learning cities.  This was a fitting centre through which to introduce these perspectives as participants came from a range of universities and colleges.

Class-Divided Cities in the United States (Richard Florida)

At The Atlantic Cities (Place Matters), Richard Florida has been sharing reports on class divides across America's largest cities and metros.  These reports examine the residential locations of today's three major classes: the shrinking middle of blue-collar workers; the rising ranks of the knowledge, professional, and creative class; and the even larger and faster-growing ranks of lower-paid, service workers, using detailed data from the American Community Survey.
