This audit tool collects qualitative and quantitative data on learning city and region activities, tools, materials, processes etc. Based on an extensive consultation processes with local authorities, educational organisations and partner networks. The audit tool is available in four languages.

PURE project extension agreement in Darling Downs/Professor Glen Postle

Following a memorandum of understanding between the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) and Regional Development Australia (RDA), PASCAL will be extending its PURE work in the Darling Downs region of Australia.

One of the architects of this memorandum has been PASCAL Associate, Professor Glen Postle, pictured below with the Vice-Chancellor of USQ, Professor Bill Lovegrove and others from USQ an RDA.

The European University Association has published a major new report “Global University Rankings and their Impact” that analyses the methodologies used in the main international university rankings and also refers to a number of other ongoing projects seeking to measure university performance.

Organizing around Food: Setting the Table for Collaboration. Introducing FARE (Food and Agriculture in Regional Engagement)

Communities organize around many things but the most natural focus for collaboration is food.  Food is not only life sustaining but provides seeds for local economic development.  A community-based food-systems approach has the potential to simultaneously address issues of food security, public health, social justice, and ecological health in local communities and regions, as well as economic vitality of agriculture and rural communities. 

Xploit and LABlearning approaches

I would welcome your comments on the Xploit approach and the basic concepts of involvement and empowerment and some applications with disengaged youth, unemployed, migrants perhaps with some reference to the Scandinavian adult learning tradition. I would also be interested in the MIT Media Lab in Boston media learning concepts that you mention.

Productivity paper by Paul Eslake, Director, Productivity Growth Program (AU)

The European Union Centre at RMIT is currently undertaking research into the issue of Productivity. This topic appears to be gaining momentum given the two speed economy Australia is reportedly experiencing.
