Kent International Affairs group
Dear All,
I've been invited to present to the Kent International Affairs Group next week on what's new with PASCAL. Obviously there's lots of things that I'm party to, but if there is anything in particular you like me to emphasise please let me know and I'll incorporate it.
This is a good step forward as it will be the first time the IAG has requested a presentation.
Regards
Peter

Thanks Mike,
That's an excellent update. I knew of some but not all of these. I will also announce the 2012 conference in Brittany and start another forum thread on it's themes.
Best wishes

Dear Peter,
In Glasgow, the most prominent new project is found at http://pascalobservatory.org/pascalnow/pascal-activities/news/lifelong-l..., and is a venture into a new territory to build capacity in the university sector. We are planning similar bids for funding to the EC for equivalent work in other middle Eastern countries, with Egypt and Libya possibiities.
Other bids are being made to tender offers from the EC, including one looking at the effectiveness access of adults to HE in the EC.
We are about to run a conference in Switzerland as a dissemination of the Eurolocal project on Learning Regions.
We have been holding discussions with the City of Helsinki to run a collaborative MPA/MSc for city administrators. This is a direct spin-off from the work of PURE in the city and will be a collaboration that will also involve the European Business School in Barcelona and RMIT, thereby bringing the cities involved together.
The first PUMR exercises will start shorty with Canterbury Christchurch University and Mid-Sweden University. Universities in Italy, Belgium, Canada, Australia and even Bolivia are also expressing interest in being involved.
Final PURE visits have been made to Glasgow and Helsinki and reports will be produced shortly. Work is continuing in Darling Downs with the support of the Regional Development Agency in Queensland. Further PURE work is ongoing in Jamtland. Our thoughts are now extending to PURE2.
I hope that helps.
Best wishes Mike
