The 5th GUNi Report is a product of three years of research, consultations, academic seminars and an international conference, to which 73 authors from 34 countries have contributed to. It is the result of a global and regional analysis of current trends, challenges and future visions on the way that community and university engage. The GUNi Report will be presented at more than 30 events in over 20 countries this year.

Nowadays the role of knowledge is crucial for society but, how do institutions really engage with deep and emerging societal needs? How do they identify critical issues on this matter? The 5th Report looks at the roles of higher education institutions as active players in contributing to solve major global problems and promote social change. The report critically examines the theory and practice of community-university engagement as a key feature in the evolution of higher education.

GUNi is an international network created in 1999 by UNESCO and the United Nations University, whose secretariat is hosted by the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) in Barcelona.

GUNi’s mission is to strengthen higher education’s role in society, contributing to the renewal of the visions, missions and policies of the main issues of higher education across the world under a vision of public service, relevance and social responsibility.

We invite you to the presentation event in Barcelona in order to discuss the key higher education issues raised in the report with the guest editors, academics and professionals in the field.

Interpretation will be available during the presentation.

Registration is free of charge but necessary to attend the event. Learn know more about the report and register for the event here.
