Invitation to CLC Lecture Series - Of Standards and Cities

How does one city compare to another? What are the key criteria for assessing a city’s service delivery and quality of life? Hear from Mr Rob Steele, ISO Secretary-General, as he shares on the new ISO standard for city indicators. How can cities make smarter infrastructural choices to fulfil economic objectives? Mr Terry Hill will share his experiences as former Chairman of Arup Group, having led several key projects worldwide.

The session will be moderated by Mr Tan Kai Hoe, Chief Executive of SPRING Singapore.

Terry Hill

ISO President and former Chairman of Arup Group
Terry was previously the Chairman of Arup Group from 2004 to 2009 and has led the Infrastructure Division at Arup, focusing on consulting and infrastructure, in which he has created and implemented infrastructure and transport projects all around the world. He was also formerly the Chairman of the Arup Group owning Trusts, and he remains a Trustee. Terry is a non-executive member of the Crossrail Ltd Board and a fellow of many professional associations including the UK Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institution of Civil Engineers and the World Economic Forum.

     
 

Rob Steele

ISO Secretary-General
ISO Secretary-General since 1 January 2009, Rob has been reappointed for a second term of office (2014-2018). Prior to ISO, Rob was the Chief Executive Officer of Standards New Zealand (SNZ) where he represented SNZ on the ISO Council and Council Standing Committee on Strategy, and the ISO Technical Management Board. He was also Secretary of the Pacific Area Standards Congress (PASC) from 2002 to 2007 and has served on several Boards as a director of companies in the manufacturing and service sectors.

Tan Kai Hoe

Chief Executive of SPRING Singapore
Kai Hoe joined SPRING as Deputy Chief Executive in June 2009, where he oversaw SPRING’s efforts in industry development, entrepreneurship, innovation, quality and standards. He also serves on the boards of several companies and non-profit organisations, as well as on national committees working on productivity, innovation and enterprise. He holds a MSc in Business Management from Stanford University and a MA in Physics from Cambridge University.
