EPALE Hungary has decided to join the 4th Learning Festival in the UNESCO Global Learning City of Pécs for 24-26 September 2020.

The main theme of the Festival is:

With Learning for Creative and Active Communities

Around 70 organisations in around town, with a number of stakeholders to represent City Council, the University of Pécs, The local Museum, schools, orchestras, choirs, learning neighbourhoods, civil society groups, green-groups for the environment, senior citizens’ networks, etc. will gather to develop knowledge transfer based on topics based on the interests of local citizens and of their communities. This year’s topics will include:

  • Learning city – Smart city;
  • City and its environment;
  • Family and learning;
  • Intergenerational and Intercultural learning;
  • Living history;
  • Talent management

EPALE Hungary had already recognised the Learning City Programme of Pécs in 2018 as a distinguished example of a bottom-up focused lifelong learning initiative regardless of age and culture to promote learning which is not just for jobs.

It is PASCAL International Observatory which had promoted the idea of the learning city in Pécs through EU-funded projects (e.g. LILARA, PENR3L, and EuroLOCAL) and particular comparative studies through its PURE project, based on collaborations in between PASCAL and the University of Pécs. For this very reason, Pécs is a PASCAL Learning City!
