Lord Kelvin / Adam Smith Readership (Associate Professor) Scheme at the University of Glasgow

As part of the University of Glasgow’s investment in research excellence, we have exciting opportunities for outstanding researchers who are starting in their first academic position.

Scheme overview:

  • Qualifying candidates will have completed one or more competitively awarded fellowships and meet a range of essential criteria;
  • Start up packages of up to £200k;
  • Successful candidates will be offered a continuing Research & Teaching position (Reader / Associate Professor).

Essential criteria:

  • Completed, or be near to completion of, a competitively won external fellowship(s) of at least five years’ duration;
  • Won research grants as PI during the qualifying fellowship(s), meeting specific income targets;
  • Published two strong outputs (as corresponding author) during the qualifying fellowship(s);
  • Supervised to completion at least one postgraduate research student during the qualifying fellowship(s);
  • Applications from candidates with alternative career paths welcomed.
