Publication Launch 'Trends in Adult Learning and Education in the Arab Region – Findings from GRALE 4'  (22 September 2020)

On 22 September 2020, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), will virtually launch the report Trends in Adult Learning and Education in the Arab Region – Findings from the Fourth Global Report on Adult Learning and Education (GRALE 4). 

Based on GRALE 4 [1] and the data collected from 18 Arab states, the regional report assesses the status of adult learning and education (ALE) in the region with a focus on participation from the perspective of equity and inclusion. The report shows that ALE has progressed in the region since 2015, in particular in the area of policy, governance and participation. However, challenges with regard to policy implementation, the inclusion of vulnerable groups, quality and funding persist.

During the launch, possible policy responses for advancing adult learning and education will be discussed with policy-makers and education experts from the region. All interested stakeholders are invited to join.

The Global Report on Adult Learning and Education (GRALE) monitors the implementation of the Belém Framework for Action [2] and the Recommendation of Adult Learning and Education (RALE) [3]. It has been produced every three years since 2009.
