USA Virtual Conference debates key issues impacting on learning cities and regions in today’s challenging times

The American Association for Adult & Continuing Education annual conference has taken on a new look in 2020 using a virtual format for its annual conference 27-30 October 2020. The virtual conference environment was used for the very first time in its history and opened Wednesday with cocktails and a welcome from Dr Mary Alfred, President and the President-elect Dr Thomas Cox. We were able to chat informally and engage in warm-up activities using for example a conference quiz.

A busy year for the PASCAL LCN Faith-based Learning City Development network

The PASCAL Learning Cities Networks (LCN) Faith-based Learning City Development network has been busy this past year, drawing on the tangible resources of a lens grounded in faith and spirituality to build community resilience and work towards renewal in our respective localities during these times of pandemic, protest and increasing climate change.

New Jean Monnet Network led by RMIT - Social and Scientific Innovation to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals

Rwandan cities of Kigali and Huye join PASCAL Learning Cities Networks (LCN)

We are delighted to announce that two cities in Rwanda, Kigali and Huye, have become members of PASCAL’s Learning Cities Networks (LCN). Both cities are participants in the Centre for Sustainable, Healthy and Learning Cities and Neighbourhoods (SHLC) and it is a pleasure to be able to welcome them to PASCAL.

Congratulations to Catherine Lido, Deputy Director of PASCAL in Europe

We are delighted to announce that Catherine Lido, Deputy Director of PASCAL in Europe, has been promoted to a chair in Psychology and Adult Learning at the University of Glasgow. This is a thoroughly deserved recognition for Catherine’s excellent contributions over the years, not least her work in the field of learning cities for PASCAL.

PASCAL and Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA, are exploring the development of a PASCAL Center

Rutgers, with the distinguished Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, is a major institution located strategically mid-way in the Boston-Washington corridor that the geographer Jean Gottmann named “Megaloplis” in his path-finding book of 1960. This effort includes pursuit of synergistic activities between PASCAL associates and Rutgers faculty and students.
