Glasgow - Future City Demonstrator city - Invitation to an event on 24 July
Glasgow is the UK's Future City Demonstrator city and has developed considerable expertise in the design, development and application of future city solutions across a range of urban challenges.
These are to be found in big data, open data, transportation, energy, public safety, health, environment, communications, demography and climate change.
On the 24th July , Glasgow University will host an event which will showcase the best practice emerging from Glasgow in order to stimulate new civic, commercial and academic collaborations with commonwealth partners interested in the technology and practices developing across Scotland’s universities, cities and businesses.
Further event details and registration instructions can be found here or further information can be obtained from Michael Burns, Research Strategy Office, Glasgow University

Urban-Rural Dynamics
I'm keen to attend the event and from the 'seat' of Crichton Institute here in Dumfries have started to explore/network around the issue of rural-urban dynamics/interface. Basically, if there is such a thing as a Smart City, what would Smart Countryside look like ? Happy to hear from any fellow travellers.
A connection to Pascal initiatives
Dear Tony, a very apposite comment, which we'll respond to within pascal since we are amongst other things aiming to build up a network connecting city and rural initatives in the context of learning cities. Peter Kearns is leading on this and I shall ask him to contact you. Best wishes Mike
