Equity and Access in Education in Australia
The European Union Centre at RMIT, the base from which the RMIT PASCAL centre operates, recently hosted a visit from a European Union Delegation. Led by Helene Clark, the European Commission Director for Lifelong Learning, the Delegation was in Australia for a Policy Dialogue on Early Childhood Education with Australian officials.
The event at RMIT focused more generally on issues of equity and access in early childhood education, vocational education and training, adult education and higher education. PASCAL colleagues from the Hume Global Learning Village provided a ‘place-based’ approach to these questions, and illustrated the important role which local government can play in coordinating cross-sectoral collaboration.
A second session focused on new initiatives in assessment and curriculum. With speakers from Monash University and the Australain Council for Educational Research, this session highlighted opportunities for international cooperation, particularly with the European Union.
