Call for Submissions: Special Issue of the Compare Forum - Post-2015 Education and Development Agenda

Post-2015 Education and Development Agenda - Deadline 30 June 2013

A Special Edition of the Compare Forum is planned for the last edition of this year (43:6) focusing on the Post 2015 education and development agenda.

This Special Edition will be compiled by Yusuf Sayed and Terra Sprague together with UNICEF and UNESCO as the co-leads for the education Post 2015 consultation.

As the 2015 target date for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) approaches, there are a growing number of processes, preparations and debates on what a post-2015 agenda and framework will look like. UNDG (as chaired by UNDP) is leading planning efforts to catalyze a “global conversation” on post-2015 through a series of some 100 national consultations and 11 global thematic consultations. The aim of these consultations is to bring together a broad range of stakeholders to review progress on the MDGs and to discuss the options for a new framework.

The overall global thematic consultation on education is co-lead by UNICEF, UNESCO, with support from the Government of Canada, the Government of Germany and the Government of the Republic of Senegal. The discussion considers:

  • the international education and development experience since 2000;
  • current development trends and challenges, as well as future scenarios which need to be taken into account when defining the post-2015 education framework;
  • the possible scope and shape of education within the post 2015 agenda.

The purpose of special edition is to contribute to this debate in relation to ideas about how progress towards greater education quality and equity can be achieved, including how and what goals and targets need to be defined and owned and governments made accountable for them.

We welcome short contributions of about 1000-1200 words on the topic. We intend to publish about 10 peer reviewed contributions in the journal and possibly on the BAICE website, with the possibility of including additional contributions on the website version.

Visit the BAICE website for criteria and to submit your contribution

Deadline is 30 June, 2013.

Please feel free to distribute the call amongst your networks.
