Marc Hume

Marc is the first Director of Enterprise at the University of Greenwich. Prior to this he was Chief Executive of Thames Gateway Kent. Marc has over 25 years experience of Economic Development and regeneration and has held senior positions at Medway Council, Kent County Council and Nottinghamshire Council.  

Interests/Expertise: 
  • Key theme : Economic Development - Marc has led the development of innovative economic development in a variety of local government organisations. Key strengths include partnership development, strategy and project delivery    
  • Key theme 2: Regeneration - Marc has led one of the most complex Regeneration Partnerships in the UK (Thames Gateway in Kent) requiring major strategy development, funding, and partnership skills 
  • Preferred methodologies, approaches: - Marc is action oriented but is concerned to ensure that systems and processes are in place to stimulate debate and agreement about policy choices and priorities  
Recent research/consultancy: 
  • Marc remains very involved in the Thames Gateway initiative and serves on numerous Boards and advisory Groups eg Thames Gateway Higher and Further Education Group, Thames Gateway London Partnership Board, Bexley Regeneration Partnership Board, etc. 
  • Marc is a Govenor of Peabody, a major Housing Association in London and until recently was a non exec Board member/advisor  to a commercial radio station.

  • Certificate in Social Work, Diploma in Social and Economic Development
