Skills Development Scotland
As Scotland's recently formed skills organisation, Skills Development Scotland brings together four partner bodies with a shared vision to drive forward real, positive and sustained change in Scotland's skills performance. Through this move Scotland now has a dynamic, forward-looking organisation which will deliver comprehensive information, advice and guidance for careers and learning as well as extensive support for skills development. SDS has taken over the foundation membership of Pascal from the Scottish Government.
What does SDS do with Pascal?
SDS funds Pascal's PURE project in Glasgow, and hosted the inaugural workshop for PURE in Glasgow in 2008.
Pascal is conducting research for KCC on the effectiveness of school-based vocational education models.
Pascal is supporting SDS in efforts to engage SMEs in Midlothian, Scotland.
Professor Stephanie Young, Director of Strategic Relations of SDS is a member of the Pascal Board.
Involvement with PURE has helped Skills Development Scotland to reflect upon the contribution of Higher Education Institution's in the region and has allowed closer links with those institutions to be developed. Skills Development Scotland has found the "call off" days of consultancy included in PASCAL membership to be very useful, particularly with regard to comparative policy research.
