University of Calabar
The University of Calabar (Unical) is situated in Calabar, Cross River State, South-eastern Nigeria. It is one of Nigeria's second generation universities and was up till 1975 a campus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Its motto is “Knowledge for Service”.
In addition to training students in the academic arena, Unical lays emphasis on turning out graduates imbued with a high sense of honesty and patriotism; in order to strengthen its commitment to polishing students' characters, it established in 2001, an annual Pro-Chancellor's Prize for the best behaved student of the graduating class. Unical holds within the ranks of its academic staff high quality lecturers who have been able to engage with colleagues at the international level through collaborative international research and other development-oriented work.
What does PASCAL do with the University of Calabar?
PASCAL supports the Implementing the Third Mission of Universities in Africa (ITMUA) project funded through the African Challenge Fund co-ordinated by NUL, and also involving the University of Botswana, the University of Calabar and the University of Malawi.
