Knowing the Value of University: Families, Education And Debt: the Kensington Community Bursary Project

Paper from the PASCAL International Observatory Conference, "Making Knowledge Work: Building Sustainable Partnerships through Place Management, Social Capital and Lifelong Learning" October 2005, University of Stirling, Scotland The Kensington Community Bursary Project (KCB) is a non repayable bursary aimed at students from low income households entering Higher Education, targeted through an area based regeneration initiative, the Kensington New Deal for Communities initiative. This paper reports work in progress and on the future development of a pilot project. It addresses the Conference themes of Social Capital and Lifelong Learning through community based support for entry into and retention in higher education.
