Sustainable Learning Cities International Forum: Shaping the Future of Urban Resilience and Education

The recent Sustainable Learning Cities International Forum on 11 September in the city of Incheon, Republic of Korea, focused on strategies for transforming cities into sustainable learning environments that promote lifelong learning, environmental stewardship, and socio-economic resilience. With global urbanization intensifying, the forum brought together thought leaders, city officials, and experts to share insights and best practices on sustainable city development.

The forum was organised by Professor Un Chil Choi, and prominent speakers included Irina Bokova, former UNESCO Secretary-General, and Ban Ki-Moon, the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, who shared visionary ideas for sustainable cities and climate action. The forum’s sessions included in-depth discussions on topics such as climate change, renewable energy, social equity, and lifelong learning, highlighting practical models from cities worldwide.

A key session on best practices featured Professor Roberta Piazza, from the University of Catania, representing PASCAL, who contributed her expertise on community engagement and the transformative role of education in sustainable urban development. As a representative of PASCAL, Piazza underscored the importance of integrating educational practices that empower communities and foster inclusive growth.
