The Faculty of Adult Education and HRD and its Regional Lifelong Learning Research Centre is an integral part of the University of Pécs (27.000 students; 3000 employees), the second biggest university in Hungary.The university has 10 faculties and operates a Faculty of Adult Education and HRD that has a 30 years experience in researching the education and training of adults. The Faculty is one of the outstanding educational and research centres in Hungarian higher education in the field of adult education, human resource management, cultural management and lifelong learning. The University of Pécs is the co-ordinating center for PASCAL's operations in Eastern and Central Europe and Dr Balazs Nemeth is a member of the Executive of PASCAL.

The University of Pécs co-ordinates Pascal's PURE project in South Trans-Danubia

University of Pécs has been and is a partner in a number of PASCAL's research projects concerned with Learning Regions. These include Lilara, PENR3L, Eurolocal and R3L+.

University of Pécs hosted the 2007 conference of Pascal.
