James Conroy
Currently I am Vice-Principal, Internationalisation at the University of Glasgow. Previous I have held the office of Dean in the Faculty of Education. Prior to this I was the inaugural Head of the Faculty Graduate school, and before that, Head of the Department of Religious Education.
I have taught programmes in ethics, religious education, philosophy and theology in education, religion and schooling, and retain an active teaching interest in Leadership, and Ethics. I still offer CPD, most especially in the area of leadership and religious schools, Ethics and Moral education and ‘Discipline with Dignity’. My teaching commitments include supervision of a number of PhD students, Leadership in church schools and EdD Ethics and epistemology.
For some years I have been a visiting and adjunct Professor at Fordham University, New York. Previously I have been visiting Senior Research Fellow at Australian Catholic University and the federal university of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil. Currently, I am President of the Association for Moral Education (based in N.America), Member of the Board of Directors, Learning and Teaching Scotland, Secretary and Treasurer of the Journal of Moral Education Trust, Board Member of the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Member of the Teacher Workforce Planning Group for Scotland, Member of the Commissioning Panel AHRC/ESRC Programme on Religion and Society. I hold, and have held, officer and editorial board positions on a number of academic associations and learned journals, including EERA, PESGB, Journal of Moral Education, Journal of Policy Futures in Education, Ethics and Education, Interntional Journal of Catholic Education.
