UNESCO UIL Publication - Embracing a culture of lifelong learning

Drawing on the input of 12 distinguished experts from different countries and disciplines, a report just published by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), entitled Embracing a culture of lifelong learning: Contribution to the Futures of Education initiative underlines that creating a global culture of lifelong learning will be key to addressing the challenges humanity is currently facing; ranging from the climate crisis to technological and demographic change, not to mention those posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the inequalities it has exacerbated.

Meeting Notes | Connecting Urban and Rural Learning Initiatives

This was the inaugural meeting of the network. The first matter discussed was the aim of the network and suggested topics (see http://lcn.pascalobservatory.org/networks/urban-rural).

There was a general discussion about the suggested topics. The two topics that were of most interest to follow up on were:

  1. Regional Economic Development: Strategies that focus on promoting employment, entrepreneurship, and small business start-ups and development, and
  2. Measures to combat changing demographics due to COVID-19 migration.
