The Department of Education Studies, Faculty of Education is organising the Second International Lifelong Learning (LLL) Summer Institute.

The Summer Institute will be held at Mount St Joseph, Targa Gap, Malta, between 9 and 10 September 2010. The keynote speaker and resource person for this event is Professor Hans. G. Schuetze, Professor Emeritus at University of British Columbia, Canada.

The Summer Institute will deal with the following themes:


Lifelong Learning - models and meanings
International organisations and LLL
Universities (HE) and LLL
From blueprint to reality: The politics of LLL.

It is of particular interest to people engaged in all aspects of education, training, social and health work and social activism.

Registration Fees:  75 Euros for non-residents (includes coffees and lunch on both days)

Hans G. Schuetze, LL.M. (UC Berkeley), PhD (U of Göttingen)
Present position: Professor Emeritus and Senior Research Fellow (as well as former director), Centre for Policy Studies in Higher Education and Training, University of British Columbia at Vancouver (Canada). Practicing lawyer specialized in public law issues, especially education and human rights issues.
Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow, Scotland (since 1994). Education: Studies in law, economics, history, and education in Bonn and Göttingen (Germany), Grenoble (France) and Berkeley (University of California). Work: Researcher, university teacher, lawyer, policy analyst in Germany, France, the US, and Canada. Visiting professorships in France, Germany, Japan, and Mexico.
