The future of the European science and technology field depends on Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). Wider engagement with European citizens, stakeholders and users is a crucial part of this emerging landscape. RRI requires research to be inclusive, anticipatory, reflexive and responsive, and there is a vital role for citizens, stakeholders and users in making the vision of RRI a reality. The two-day conference Engaging Society in Responsible Research and Innovation: What’s Next? marks the culmination of Engage2020. The EU-funded project has spent two years mapping engagement methods and practice across Europe. The conference will present the results of the project and stage discussions of trends, needs, tools and instruments for an increased and better societal engagement in research and innovation.
