We are pleased to announce the ‘Open Online Discussion on International and Comparative Education’ event being held in honour of International Education Week from Monday, November 15 to Friday, November 19. This event is sponsored by the British Association of Comparative and International Education (BAICE). Participation in this FREE event is open to all – no need to be a current BAICE member or to join BAICE to participate.

This is a unique opportunity to participate in online discussions from your own computer on issues in international and comparative education with academics, students and practitioners from around the world. Share your views, experience and questions with expert ‘guest posters’ and other participants on a range of themes – a different topic each day! Please see the attached advert for more information on topics and guest posters.

Participating in the online discussion is easy and convenient. Comments and questions will be posted by ‘guest posters’ and participants in an online forum. Simply log-in to the forum at different points each day to read the discussion and post your own questions and comments.

Registration is open NOW at www.baice.ac.uk/forum. We encourage you to register early so that you can participate right away when the event begins on November 15:

Basic registration will only take about 5 minutes and can be done in just a few simple steps. After going to the link above:

  1. Read the message ‘Welcome to BAICE Forum’;
  2. Read ‘How to participate’ for more information about using the forum;
  3. To register, go to ‘Register’ link towards the top right-hand side of the page or using your back browser button return to the homepage to register.

OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED AFTER REGISTERING:

Completing your profile: In order to identify yourself and your institution during the event, click on ‘User Control Panel’. Go to the Profile tab and then to ‘Edit Profile’. Please enter any information you wish to share with others. We recommend that you put your institution’s name under ‘Location’ so the name of your institution appears with each posting you make during the event.

You can also got to ‘Edit Signature’ under the Profile Tab and add more information which will show up in a signature line every time you make a posting during the event.

Getting e-mail alerts during the event: E-mail alerts will tell you when someone has posted a comment to the forum. If you would like to receive e-mail alerts when someone makes a posting during the event, then after registering you should select the forum entitled ‘Open Online Discussion on International and Comparative Education’. This will take you to the page that shows the list of topics for the week. You can then click on ‘Subscribe Forum’ at the bottom left-hand side of the page. Please be aware that even though you will receive an e-mail alert, you will still have to log-in to the forum to read posts and share your own comments.

If you wish to get e-mail alerts only for specific topics not the whole forum, you should click on the topic in which you are interested and then click on ‘Subscribe Topic’ at the bottom left-hand side of the page. This must be done individually for each topic.

If you have any questions about the event or any trouble registering, please contact the BAICE Student Representatives:
