Recycling Cities Network (RECNET) is pleased to announce RESURBE III International Conference on Urban Resilience, to be held in 17-20 February 2016 in Mexico City, Mexico.



RESURBE III is hosted by The National Autonomous University of Mexico UNAM,  and organized in the frame of RESURBE International Program on Urban Resilience.



CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES 


RESURBE III main objective is to facilitate the discussion on urban resilience, aiming at empowering local communities for local actions.


RESURBE III is calling for the participation of local communities, researchers and practitioners, from public, private and non-governmental organizations.



RESURBE III is principally focusing on:

  1. To define the real-life challenges faced by local communities for achieving resilience, facing environmental, social, economic slow and rapid on-setting risks.


  2. To redefine the role of universities in identifying and implementing practical solutions for urban resilience, together with the local communities.
  3. 

To define approaches for facilitating the knowledge co-creation and exchange between local communities and other stakeholders to support appropriate local actions.resilience, aiming at empowering local communities for local actions.



CONFERENCE THEMES

RESURBE II is principally focusing on real cases and best practices of urban resilience transition worldwide.


It invites authors to submit their abstracts for the thematic areas listed below.
 


  1. Risk management and adaptation
  2. 
Methodologies and tools for resilience and systemic eco-innovation.

  3. Process design and strategic urban/regional planning.

  4. Intangible heritage and appropriate technologies.
  5. 
Circular economy and urban metabolism.

  6. Participatory processes, co-design and co-evolution.

  7. Climate change and healthy cities.



PROCEEDINGS AND PUBLICATIONS


The accepted articles will be published by the UNESCO Chair on Sustainability within the RESURBE III proceedings book with ISBN number, and will be made available online.

 The best articles and practices will be selected for publication within the volumes of the book series "Resilience Cities: Rethinking Urban Transformation" (Springer), and the authors will be invited to joint RESURBE program working groups.



All abstracts and articles will be peer-reviewed.



IMPORTANT DATES

11 December  2015 - Abstract Submission deadline.


7 January 2015 - Notification of Acceptance.


29 January 2016 - Full submission deadline.


17-20 February 2016 - Conference.

RECYCLING CITIES NETWORK - RECNET

Recycling Cities Network (RECNET) currently comprises more than 200 members from 27 different countries, born with the purpose of finding the collaboration of key stakeholders in re-thinking the transformation of cities for sustainable transition to more resilient socio-ecological systems. The primary focus for the RECNET network is the promotion of participatory community development through the transfer of experiences, promoting socio-environmental and awareness activities, which will promote, link and articulate the empowerment of all stakeholders.

RECNET focuses on four main areas of work (energy, water, land and biodiversity), targeted at key challenges that need to be in constant innovation and research: a) adaptation and mitigation of climate change, b) Intangible heritage and, c) green and circular economy.



INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM ON URBAN RESILIENCE  -RESURBE

RESURBE Program aims to realize research, capacity building and urban development projects worldwide, as well as to support informed policy making, on urban resilience (climate change adaptation, mitigation and risk).
 
RESURBE Program operates through an interdisciplinary and international platform, facilitating knowledge co-creation and exchange between local and regional governments, universities and research centers, international organizations and other stakeholders from private and public sectors, for the realization of research and development projects on urban resilience and climate change adaptation.
