Conference report now available! | 3rd International Placemaking Week

In an effort to show all that was learned and shared during the week, and to help us re-live the event's greatest moments, we're happy to announce that Placemaking Week's conference report is now available! We encourage you to take a look -- there's even a video!

Thank you Chattanooga!

Placemakers, we hope you are ready to ring in 2020! Can you believe that just over two months ago we were in Chattanooga, basking in unusually hot weather, shuffling between multiple breakout session venues, and dancing in an alleyway? It's true!

In an effort to show all that was learned and shared during the week, and to help us re-live the event's greatest moments, we're happy to announce that Placemaking Week's conference report is now available! We encourage you to take a look -- there's even a video.

The 3rd International Placemaking Week's party in Cooper's Alley closed the event with Chattanooga's innovative and creative flair (Featured: Pop-up Project).
The conference report speaks for itself, but as the global placemaking movement continues to grow, this year's International Placemaking Week proved to be a vital platform to build connections and share ideas across borders, to provoke local debate and action on public space, and to experience our host city’s places, issues, and initiatives firsthand.

We thank Chattanooga, the Local Host Committee, and all who presented and attended, for making the event so impactful and special. The passion and creativity of this southern mid-sized city was enough to inspire our hearts and minds for some time to come.
Placemaking Week's activation in Chattanooga's Miller Park encouraged locals and conference goers alike to take advantage of an unusual Fall heatwave.

Walk/Bike/Places 2020

If you enjoyed Chattanooga, we encourage you to join us at our largest event, Walk/Bike/Places, which will take place in Indianapolis on August 4-7, 2020.

Alongside the event's core emphasis on active transportation, there will be an entire track dedicated to placemaking within the event's 80+ breakout sessions. In addition, a wide range of mobile workshops are being organized by our friends at Big Car Collaborative and staff at the City of Indianapolis (think everything from exploring Indy's trail system by bike, to attending a neighborhood porch party!).

2020's event will focus on "implementation". If you have an interest in sharing your knowledge and expertise on how to get things done, be sure to take advantage of any free time over the holiday season and submit a proposal to present by January 3, 2020!

Until next time!

As much as we hate to say goodbye to each Placemaking Week, we're excited about what the future has in store. We will announce a Call for Cities in 2020, and look forward to receiving proposals to host the 4th International Placemaking Week. Until then, we wish all of you the best in your work and will keep you posted on any Placemaking Week news right here through this newsletter.
