Highlights of Mayors Forum 2016

Chaired by Mr Lawrence Wong, Singapore's Minister for National Development, the 7th annual World Cities Summit Mayors Forum 2016 gathered over 92 mayors and city leaders to discuss the challenges they face and share practical experiences on innovative urban solutions.

As conversations revolved around ways to turn challenges into opportunities through actionable plans, city leaders expressed commitments to tackling complex city challenges with the 2016 WCS Mayors Forum Declaration.

World Cities Summit 2016

Chaired by Mr Lawrence Wong, Singapore's Minister for National Development, the 7th annual World Cities Summit Mayors Forum 2016 gathered over 92 mayors and city leaders to discuss the challenges they face and share practical experiences on innovative urban solutions.

The commemorative publication, City Portraits, was shared with forum participants. The carefully curated publication features case studies, challenges and best practices from participating cites and is now available online.


The World Cities Summit Mayors Forum 2016 Report is now available online. It summarises the discussions at the Forum and city presentations from the cities of Rotterdam, Zhuhai, Melbourne, Gifu and Manila.
The 8th World Cities Summit Mayors Forum will be held from 25 - 28 May 2017, and it will be hosted by the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize 2014 Laureate, Suzhou City, China. See more of Suzhou's remarkable transformation here.

@ WCS 2016: YOUNG LEADERS SYMPOSIUM
Young Leaders show off their wrist activity trackers for the WCS 2016 Steps Challenge - a WCSYL initiative.

At the WCS Young Leaders Symposium this year, an Open Mic Session was launched for Young Leaders to share some of their interesting projects and launch calls for collaborations for future projects, and some projects have come to fruition!

Also for the first time this year, the Young Leaders, with the support of Singapore’s Health Promotion Board (HPB), launched a WCS2016 Steps Challenge which encouraged city leaders to clock as many steps as possible during the Summit, measured by HPB's activity trackers.
