2016: The Year Placemaking Went Global

For placemakers, 2016 saw a series of inspirational, global gatherings, amidst growing pressure on our agency as citizens in public space to support democracy. The past year made it clearer than ever that the future must be increasingly defined by local communities, and it needs to be organized at a global scale.

Investing in People and Places: Interview with Laura Trudeau

In light of her recent retirement from the Kresge Foundation as Director of the Detroit Program, Laura Trudeau and PPS’s Steve Davies sat down to discuss placemaking, philanthropy, and the transformation of Detroit’s public spaces. During her 15 years with Kresge, Trudeau was instrumental in revitalizing a number of Detroit's assets—including Campus Martius and Eastern Market—which are among PPS's most notable projects.


Democracy Still Lives in Public Spaces

PPS Releases New Report: "The Case for Healthy Places: Improving Health through Placemaking"

The Case for Healthy Places offers evidence-based research, guidance, recommendations, and case studies to which health institutions, community organizations, and other partners can refer in supporting healthy placemaking initiatives.
