‘Engendering the Workplace: Gender Discrimination and Prevention of Sexual Harassment in Organisations’ by Dr Martha Farrell

This book explores the nature of gender inequality in Indian workplaces, specifically with a view to understand the causes and processes for sexual harassment in organizations. “We have been taught not to speak up – if we speak up, we are not good women,” said Dr. Farrell while discussing the book in a recent interview. Book Launched by Dr. Pinky Anand, Additional Solicitor General

The book was launched on 26 September 2014 at India Habitat Centre along with a panel discussion on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace. Panelists included Dr. Pinky Anand, Additional Solicitor General, Supreme Court of India; Ms Shamina Shafiq, National Commission for Women, New Delhi; Mr Prabhat Krishna, Credentials India, Delhi; and Dr (Mrs) Pankaj Mittal, University Grants Commission, New Delhi. Kadam Badao: Campaign to End Violence Against Women

The youth group in Sonepat have kicked off the unique Kadam Badao campaign to bring the issue of violence against women in mainstream political agenda. They have held a youth press conference and have been meeting various political party leaders, campaigning for the forthcoming Haryana elections, with their own charter of demands. Lifelong Learning in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is one of the few countries of Asian region which has created a formal policy of lifelong learning for all its citizens. The challenge of implementation of that policy, and how to reform the systems of implementation, was the focus of an international conference in Tashkent during September 24-25, 2014. Speaking at the conference on the relevance of lifelong learning from the vantage point of rebuilding citizenship, Dr Rajesh Tandon, President, PRIA, emphasised the need for multiple modes and channels of learning.
