UALL is happy to annouce that Mr Anthony Painter, Director of the RSA's Action and Research Centre will be presenting and leading discussions, as keynote speaker, for the conference theme 'Learning and Place' at the UALL Annual Conference 2019: Lifelong Learning and Place.

He is well placed to lead discussions on this theme as he focuses the centre's work around three aims - creativity, learning and development; economy, enterprise and manufacturing; public services and communities. He also oversees the research, policy and practical innovation in ARC.

His own work focuses on a range of policy issues including the impact of new technology on the economy and society, reform to welfare, words, learning ad skills, and reform to public services and a range of public institutions.

He previously directed the Independent Review of the Police Federation and has also worked in partnership with Google, the BBC, the BMA, the Education and Training Foundation, the Association of Colleges and the Metroplitan Police. He is the author of three books, most recently 'Left without a future? Social justice in anxious times', and has written a number of vrey high impact policy and research reports such as 'Creative Citizen, Creative state: the principled and pragmatic case for a Universal Basic Income', 'the New Digital Learning Age', the Fear and Hope Report', and 'Democratic Stress, the Populist Signal and the Extremist Threat'.

How to submit your proposals:

Paper Presentations -  please submit a shor tversion of your paper, of 1000 words, including an abstract of between 50 -100 words. Those acceted to present papers will be invited to submit a full paper for consideration for publication in a special issue of the journal Widening Participation and Lifelong Learning(Open University)

Workshops - please send an abstract of between 250 - 300 words detailing your aims of our workshop and the ways in which you will engage participants in interaction.

The deadline to send all abstracts and proposals in 11th January 2019.
