Virginia Tech and TRE Networks preseng an executive leadership program for individuals, or teams of university and community leaders, responsible for regional economic development.  This program is scheduled for May 21-23, 2012 in Roanoke, Virginia (USA).  The curriculum will foster competency in leading regional transformation -- to achieve  long-term impacts targeted at the needs of both institutions and regions.

Participants will learn replicable methods and tools for advancing strategic regional development in a complex planning environment.  During this program, participants will develop a strategic action plan to expand university-community economic partnerships with an emphasis on strategies for navigating different organizational cultures in the regional development context – universities, private business, government, and regional/community organizations.

Participants will return to their campuses and communities with a specific plan to effectively link regional economic development with the teaching, research, and service mission of the institution.
