I've just picked up information about the Informed Cities initiative – making research work for local sustainability - from a colleague in Turku who is visiting me later this week. This is a European project funded under the Framework Programme 7, which aims to enhance the connectivity between research and policy-making in sustainable development, with a focus on tools for urban management.

The project is linked to the ICLEI—Local Governments for Sustainability, an international association of local governments and national and regional local government organizations that have made a commitment to sustainable development.
