The first of a series of new PASCAL Briefing Papers available in four languages

We are pleased to announce that a number of new PASCAL Briefing Papers will be issued over the next few months in the run-up to the 15th PASCAL Conference in Korea from 29-31 August.

These papers are being prepared not only in English, but also in Korean, traditional Mandarin and simplified Mandarin. The translations are being undertaken by Masters' students at the University of Glasgow to whom the PASCAL Observatory offers its warm appreciation, and with the hope that this has been a valuable learning exercise. The Korean translations have been undertaken by YunAh Park, the traditional Mandarin by Wen-Yi Lee and the simplified Mandarin by Yiqiao LI and Meiyun Duan.

The first of these papers with translations has been written by the chair of the PASCAL Board, Professor Josef Konvitz and is entitled Learning Initiatives to Connect the Urban and Rural. We hope that subscribers around the world will enjoy this and subsequent PASCAL Briefing Papers.
