Thousands of people working in adult education will be able to access news and events, and network with colleagues across Europe, as the European Commission unveils the latest version of its community-directed adult learning site, EPALE.

The second version of the adult learning community platform EPALE (the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe) has gone live today in English, with several important new developments, including an events calendar and a newsroom feature.

The newsroom will bring the latest updates in adult education best practice, policy updates and opportunities for funding to professionals working in adult education.

Site users will now be able to have adult learning news delivered straight to their inbox by subscribing to EPALE’s newsletter, as well as joining EPALE conversations on social media. EPALE also has an active presence on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, with connections to professionals from all over Europe.

A calendar of events will help professionals find out about conferences and training opportunities, and users can search for events according to theme, date and location.

Further site releases, in all 24 EU languages will take place over the coming weeks. There will also be a glossary of adult education words coming soon. More features will be added to the site over the coming months, including user profiles, polls and a resource centre for users to stay up to date with the latest resources in adult learning. 

A key addition in the next version (to be released later in the year) will be a partner search function and forums so visitors to EPALE can get in touch and share expertise with their counterparts from all over Europe.
