Nothing About Us Without Us is the title of the feature article on Community Engaged Scholarship in this month’s Canadian Newsletter of the Association of Universities and Colleges in Canada. The placement of this as the feature article on the subject of community based participatory research/community engaged scholarship is significant and marks a new level of visibility for the community university engaged research movement in Canada.
It happens at the same time as nearly 10,000 scholars in the Social Science and the Humanities gather in Victoria, Canada for the annual Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences which will have an emphasis on Community University Engagement. Also noted is the creation of working group on community university engagement within the AUCC headed up by President Andrew Petter of Simon Fraser University who has a plenary speaker at the recent GUNi international conference on "Knowledge, Transformation and Higher Education" in Barcelona in May.
