September 18 News- Impact Investing Report
Greetings Friends,
Professor Edward T. Jackson from Carleton University is one of the founders of both the Global Alliance for Community Engaged Research and Community Based Research Canada. He was a founder of the pioneering Participatory Research Group of Toronto, Canada in the 1970s.
Ted has had a remarkable research career in evaluation, international development, local and regional development and the social economy.
Living as we do with a global economic system that creates poverty as fast as it promotes greed, many of us are increasingly looking for approaches to understanding the economy that have more just distributive potential.
Impact Investing, the placement of capital with intent to generate positive social impact beyond financial return, is a growing area of promising economic innovation. The Rockefeller Foundation in the USA has had a programme to support these initiatives on a global scale for some time.
Ted and his colleagues have completed an in-depth study of impact investing around the world. Rajesh and I think that this is a tour de force even for those who do not usually read on the economic side of the literature.
Meanwhile we hope you are all well and moving your own work forward!
