XVIth PASCAL Conference cancelled
The XVIth PASCAL Conference on “Learning for Resilience: People, Place and Partnership in Urban and Rural Communities” which had been scheduled for 16-19 October 2019 has been canceled. We are grateful to the Centre for Adult Continuing Education at University College Cork which, in co-operation with the Skellig Centre for Research and Innovation in County Kerry for the invitation to host this ambitious and exciting programme, and we are grateful to those who indicated their interest to speak at or to participate in this event.
With only a few weeks remaining, however, the number of registered participants was not sufficient to support a 3-day event in both a rural and urban setting. The concepts that inspired this event remain compelling; perhaps it can be rescheduled and attract the large audience it deserves.
There will nonetheless be a PASCAL Conference in 2020 in Taiwan, on 13-15 November. The hosts are the University of Taipei Institute of Educational Administration and Evaluation, the Taiwan University of Education, and the Datong Community College, with support by the Taipei City Government Department of Education, and the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan. Tentatively, the focus will be on lifelong learning engagement for regional sustainable development, and on technical and vocational education.
