Community food systems create sustainable economies

The Obama Administration is to partner with 27 communities to boost neighborhood revitalization through local food enterprises - Local Foods, Local Places - to empower creative economic development in rural and urban communities in 22 states.

Reducing Water Pollution through Cleaner Agricultural Practices

Agriculture is the largest source of surface water pollution in the U.S. with the State of Illinois being the most responsible.  Pollutants making their way down the Mississippi River have created a "dead zone" in the Gulf of Mexico.  A study completed by the Nature Conservancy and University of Wisconsin looked at simple practices farms could implement to reduce water pollution.  This study took place in the Pecatonica River watershed in Wisconsin.  Nitrogen, phosphorous and silt deposits were reduced about 40%.

Inaugural issue of exciting new journal

The University Economic Development Association is pleased to announce the launch of the brand-new Journal of Economic Development in Higher Education. From now until August 15th, we are seeking submissions for the inaugural issue of the journal, which we expect to publish in December 2015. In addition, we are seeking editorial board members and peer reviewers with expertise in a wide range of fields.

Launch of the Journal of Economic Development in Higher Education

The University Economic Development Association has announced the launch of the Journal of Economic Development in Higher Education (JEDHE).  This is an online, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the study of university-led economic development. 

The Journal examines ways in which institutions of higher education make communities attractive places to work, operate businesses and raise families.  Dr. Brian Richard,at the Center for Governmental Studies-Northern Illinois University is the editor of JEDHE. 

12th PASCAL International Observatory Conference - Catania - 7-9 October 2015 - Symposia

Several conference attendees have requested symposium sessions in which special interest groups can present their work. If groups are interested in such a session please note this intent when submitting your abstract. It will be possible for you to propose between 3 and 5 separate papers during a period of 1.5 hours in parallel session. This provides an opportunity to showcase the work of your organization as well as organize future work with potential members.

CAUSE Summit-Collegiate Association of Unreasonable Social Entrepreneurs
