From the 1^st to the 3^rd of October, the city of Medellin hosted the bi-annual International Conference on Learning Cities, with a focus on inclusion. More than 400 delegates were welcomed from approximately 150 countries to discuss the role of lifelong learning in meeting the 2030 goals for Sustainable Development. 

Two of the four background papers for the conference were chosen from PASCAL International Observatory associates, working at the University of Glasgow School of Education.
