2011 UALL ANNUAL CONFERENCE - Part Time: the new paradigm for higher education?
The Conference focuses on the heightened importance of part time in policy and practice in higher education, from the perspective on the one hand of universities, colleges and other providers, and on the other of employers, regions, communities, and individual learners. The controversy and divisions caused by the passage of the policy on increased fees have sharpened debate on higher education and the sector's responses to new circumstances. The Conference will be particularly timely for exploring these challenges and the consequences for part time and lifelong learning.
The programme will include keynote presentations, workshop sessions, network presentations and international comparisons with reference to immediate and future issues for part time and lifelong learning in higher education. It will be of particular interest to policy makers, senior management, academic providers and administrators in lifelong learning both nationally and internationally. The keynote speakers include: Michael Russell MSP, Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Professor Les Ebdon, Vice Chancellor, University of Bedfordshire and Chair, Million+, Dr Judy Ashcroft, UPCEA President and Dean of Continuing and Innovative Education, University of Texas at Austin and Sarah Howls, Head of Widening Participation, HEFCE.
