Please join us for a discussion on how institutions of higher education can support healthy local food systems.  This day-long gathering will take place at the beautiful Loyola Retreat Center in Woodstock, Illinois.   Morning panel discussions on existing resources within our region will be followed by a farm-to-table lunch.  An afternoon program will feature open space strategizing.

By the end of the day we hope to:

  • Explore opportunities for engaging our institutions of higher education in developing a regional food system,
  • Share activities and resources currently available  and
  • Identify partners in the development of local food systems providing sustainable economies, healthy environments and resilient communities .

Registrants will be sent documents regarding local food system development providing a common base for discussion.  The morning will consist of panel discussions describing programs of engagement currently existing in or institutions of higher education.  Weather permitting lunch will be served outside near the garden that provides a large portion of the food served at the Loyola Center.  The afternoon will be use an Open Space format to identify partners and determine paths forward.  A closing reception with hors d’oevres and cash bar allows for networking opportunities.
