It's the final week before our conference at the Telford Innovation Campus and we are excited to see you there. 

If you have yet to book onto the conference, well, what are you waiting for - the programme? Well here is the running order of what we have planned for you. 

So go on - book now! 

Wednesday 10th April

If you are joining us for the whole conference or just the Wednesday - registration will be open from 1pm on the Wednesday and will be open until 6pm that evening. Please let me know if you are planning to arrive later than 6pm so that I can be sure to check you in once you arrive. 

Our first parallel session will start at 2.30pm - 4.00pm which will be followed by afternoon refreshments. 

Should you wish to experience the local area instead, we have also organised a visit to University Telford Centre for any of our delegates who wish to hear about the work of Lifelong Learning colleagues and experience their department. Transport will leave Telford Innovation Campus at 2.10pm and you will be back in time for tea, and coffee, at 4.00pm.

This will then be followed by our second workshop sessions from 4.30 - 6.00pm.

Evening Event 

Then there is the evening entertainment, from 7pm until ... well... until you decide you have had enough!

We have our brand new showcase event on the first evening where delegates will hear of each other's work and the shortlisted projects that are up for the UALL Awards. Our delegates will also have a tour of the Unviersity's F3 race team workshop as well as attend a book launch, a drinks reception and hot/cold buffet and this is just the first evening of the Conference! 

Thursday 11th April

Registration will be from 9am - 9.30 (for those staying Wednesday night breakfast is from 8am - 9am) 

The day will kick-start from 9.45am with a formal welcome from our Chair, The Reverend Canon Professor Peter Neil, VC of Bishop Grosseteste University and Professor Geoff Layer, VC of University of Wolverhampton leading straight into our first keynote address: Professor Mark Brown, Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL), Dublin City University - 10.00 - 10.45am 

There will be a brief tea, coffee break and then Parallel workshop sessions 3 and 4, breaking for lunch: 1.00 - 1.45pm with parallel session 5 following straight after. Then there will be our next Keynote address: Professor Keith Grint, Professor Emeritus at Warwick University and Founding Co-Editor of Leadership - 3.00 - 3.45pm

Our final workshop session of the day, Parallel session 6 will commence from 4.15 - 5pm 

Evening event

A bus will take you to the conference dinner, departing at 7pm. During the formal evening we will host our 2019 UALL Awards ceremony and celebrate our colleagues in Lifelong Learning. Awards may be made in any of the categories below:

• Innovation: this recognises innovations or creative initiatives that seek to expand lifelong learning within the UK
• Sustainability: this recognises creative Lifelong Learning initiatives with proven impact and sustainability
• Research: this award recognises specific research or evidence-based activity that promotes the significance of lifelong learning 
• International: this recognises innovative engagement, including partnerships that create change in an international or transnational context 

Friday 12th April 

For those staying overnight, breakfast will be from 8am - 9am. We will begin the day with our UALL Council, from 09.00 - 09.45am and then go straight into our final keynote address of the conference: Mr Anthony Painter, Director of the Action and Research Centre, RSA - 09.45 - 10.30am

Our final workshop session will be from 11.00 - 11.45am which will be followed by our invited plenary speaker, Professor Sir Alan Tuckett who will discuss the outcomes from the 2019 UALL Conference and imperatives for future action to achieve innovation in Lifelong Learning. 

Our Chair will bring the conerence to a formal close. We have left the afternoon open to allow our delegates time to travel back to your respective homes and (hopefully) arrive before it is dark! But should you have time, there will be the option of exploring the local area. More information will be provided at the conference. 

Sounds great but how do I get there?

By Car

Approaching from the East (incl. Birmingham and Wolverhampton), leave the M54 at Junction 4 and take the B5060 Castle Farm Way. At the first roundabout, turn left on to the A5 Telford Way (also known as St George's By-Pass), then at Priorslee roundabout take the second exit on to Shifnal Road. 

Coming from the West (incl. Shrewsbury and Wales), leave the M54 at Junction 5 and take the A5 Rampart Way. Go straight over the interchange on to the A5 Telford Way, cross over the motorway, and at the Priorslee roundabout take the Shifnal Road turning. 

Car parking is available on Campus. 

By Bus

The Campus is a five minute bus journey from the town centre on the number 92 service

By Train

You can get a direct train into Telford Central from Birmingham (30 -35 minutes), Wolverhampton (15-25 minutes) and stations on the Shrewsbury line. From there, you can pick up a bus or a taxi to the Campus (or even walk in about 15 minutes)
