The Scottish Enlightenment and the “Big Society”?

Professor Christopher Berry - Emeritus Professor of Political Theory and Honorary Research Professor at Glasgow University.  He is an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He has published widely in political theory including a number of books on the Scottish Enlightenment, one of which being ‘Social Theory and the Scottish Enlightenment.’  He is currently editing a collection of new essays on Adam Smith for Oxford University Press.

All lectures are free and open to all members of the general public, to students and to members of the academic community.

The lectures are held in the Sir Charles Wilson lecture theatre (corner of Gibson Street and University Avenue) and begin at 6pm.  Each lecture will be followed by questions and discussion and there will be an opportunity to meet informally the speakers at a reception after the lecture.
