International and Domestic Research Fellowships at the Monash European and EU Centre (MEEUC) 2012-2013

International Research Fellowships
The International Research Fellowship Programme supports international visiting fellows at the Monash European and EU Centre (MEEUC), Monash University Caulfield campus in Melbourne, Australia, for periods of one month or more.
Grants of up to $6000 are available to assist with travel to Australia, and accommodation and subsistence expenses while in Melbourne.
This initiative enables noted international scholars to undertake research on EU themes at Monash European Centre and to participate in its research, teaching and outreach activities.
Domestic Research Fellowships
The Domestic Research Fellowship Programme supports domestic visiting fellows at the Monash European and EU Centre (MEEUC), Monash University Caulfield campus in Melbourne, Australia, for periods of up to one month.
Grants of up to $1500 are available to assist with accommodation and subsistence expenses while in Melbourne.
This initiative enables noted Australian and international postgraduate students and noted scholars already in Australia to undertake research on EU themes at Monash European Centre and to participate in its research, teaching and outreach activities.
Information for applicants:
- Visiting Fellows are encouraged to visit Monash during semester periods: March to June or July to November
Conditions of the fellowship:
- Visiting Fellows must be in residence in Melbourne during the time of their fellowship;
- Visiting Fellows will be provided with shared office space, and will have access to a networked computer with access to University email, the internet and the Monash University Library;
- Visiting Fellows continue to be employed by their home institution whilst undertaking their fellowship at Monash;
- The grant is not for specifically teaching, however the recipient shall be required to deliver at least one public lecture or research seminar, and to take an active role with the Centre’s graduate students;
- Visiting Fellows are encouraged to take part in the activities of the Centre, including outreach initiatives, conferences and seminars.

1. Application form:
The completed application form must be submitted by the closing date, along with a maximum 2 page description of the proposed research project, a current CV and contact details of two referees.

2. Project proposal:
The Domestic Fellowship Programme is highly competitive. The quality of the written application is of paramount importance.
3. Referee reports:
Applicants provide the names of two referees who are willing to support their application.
Referees submit their confidential comments on the applicant’s research proposal directly to the Monash European and EU Centre by email or post, by the closing date. Referees should comment on the applicant’s academic track record, the benefit of the proposed project to European Studies as a discipline, and the applicant’s potential to develop joint research projects.
