Reminder: PASCAL Faith / Spirituality-based Learning Cities Development Network - June 6 and 13, 2019 - PLEASE RSVP

Whether you are new to the network or have been in on a few of our conversations, we hope you will find time on June 6 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM ESThttps://zoom.us/j/996200309) or June 13 10 AM - 11 AM EST (https://zoom.us/j/617404042) for an opportunity to reconnect. This will be by Zoom and in-person in New York City (City Seminary of New York) / Glasgow (University of Glasgow) if you are available. Please RSVP by June 5 or June 12, 2019.

Featured below is the agenda for June 6. We are offering two dates to provide more opportunity to connect.

Many thanks for your patience as it has taken us a while to re-engage with you as co-chairs of the PASCAL Faith/ Spirituality-based Learning Cities Network. Our last gathering was held in November 2018 at the Global Learning Cities Pre-Conference of the International Transformative Learning Cities Conference at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, NY. Some information about that can be found on our blog here.

I (Maria) also took students from my institution on an urban pilgrimage in January 2019 to Medellin, Colombia (where this year's UNESCO International Learning Cities Conference will be held on Oct 1-3, 2019 with the theme of "Inclusion - A principle for sustainable learning cities") and Sao Paulo, Brazil. We developed an exhibition at the Walls-Ortiz Gallery out of our experiences there, and a blog entry will be posted shortly related to this work.

Our hope for this year is to revive interest in the network, begin to mobilize regular conversations as well as smaller groups based on common interests (eg. multi / interfaith activities; religious/ theological education and learning cities; faith/spirituality and inclusion, faith/spirituality and quality of life, lifedeep learning), and to share ideas/resources/insights via our blog and through other means. This could leave to possible collaborations in our work / research or further our own understanding of this emerging topic.

Finally, the annual PASCAL conference will be held in Cork/ Skellig, Ireland from Oct 16-19, 2019 this year. Here is the call for papers if you are interested. We may convene an in-person gathering of those from the group participating in the conference.

We hope to see you in person or via Zoom next month.

Warmly,

Maria Liu Wong (City Seminary of New York)
Margaret Sutherland (University of Glasgow)
