Widening Regional Engagement of HE and TVET in Hong Kong

A PASCAL team consisting of John Tibbitt, Mike Osborne and Roberta Piazza were delighted to be able to visit Hong Kong during the week beginning 12 March 2018 in order to meet those colleges who had piloted the benchmarking tool of the Widening Regional Engagement of HE and TVET project.

The first visit was to Hong Kong College of Technology, a private sector college within the field of professional and vocational education and training, where we met with Professor Brian Leung, Associate Vice-President, Ms Ada Li, Director of Communication and Institutional Advancement, and Elbe Lam, Manager, Department of Partnership and Youth Advancement.

A fuller report will follow.

HKCT x PASCAL x UNESCO-UNEVOC (HK)

We’re delighted to work with UNESCO-UNEVOC Centre (Hong Kong) on the research into the PASCAL team’s benchmarking tool for regional and community engagement. While our government has been advocating Vocational & Professional Education & Training (VPET), the research is indeed relevant to the VPET values to the local & regional communities.

Hong Kong College of Technology (HKCT), as a VPET-oriented institution providing Higher Education and Continuing Education for decades, it’s definitely a positive experience for us to reconfirm our core values and missions via an internal evaluation process of employing the benchmarking tool. VPET Institutions like HKCT have diverse ways of interactions among staff & students, public agencies, business community, not-for-profit organisations and community groups to facilitate knowledge exchange, sharing of skills and experience. The tool helps us appreciate the benefits of our engagement with the wide communities, for instance, improving students’ learning & well-being of the communities, benefitting the social, economic and cultural development of the region.

More importantly, this research experience has enabled us to make broader international connections. Our warmest welcome to the PASCAL team’s visit from the UK and Italy! The International Symposium held in Hong Kong and the connections after that are of great importance. We are thrilled to continue with the academic and professional exchange International platform!

HKCT visit
