Free Methods Courses in August: UBDC Training Programme - Register Now
The Urban Big Data Centre at the University of Glasgow is pleased to announce four short courses this August 2015 in geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial statistics.
The courses, offered completely free of charge, will provide introductory methods training in data analytics to a range of participants, including social science researchers, students and practitioners.

Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Using ArcGIS

In this short course, participants will be introduced to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), a powerful tool for analysing spatial data. Introduction to Network Analysis in ArcGIS
Friday 21st August 2015
Network analysis in ArcGIS allows us to analyse problems connected to the transportation of goods or people across a network. Building on your existing GIS knowledge, this course focuses on network analysis for understanding routing data and making informed decisions that can be applied to urban planning and business decisions. Introduction to R
Wednesday 26th August 2015
As a powerful, open-source tool for statistical analysis, R has been increasingly used in higher education, scientific research and practice. Through this introductory course, we aim to provide analysts with the foundational skills needed to use R for statistical analysis, which can be applied to research as well as practical planning situations. This short course introduces some common spatial analysis functions in R, ranging from basic data operation to more advanced spatial statistics.
