Generations Working Together National Conference 2017 - Embed & Sustain is now open for booking! The Conference takes place on Wednesday 8th March 2017, 10:00am - 4:00pm at Stirling Court Hotel, University of Stirling, Stirling.

We are delighted to announce that Professor Mariano Sanchez (University of Granada) is back for another year to talk about his Intergenerational School project and also to help us launch a new online training course. Tom Peterson and colleagues are traveling up from Oxford Academy to report on their very successful Old School project which was televised for the BBC last year (you may remember the Hairy Bikers). From Scotland we have Richard Leckerman from Alzheimer Scotland who will highlight how intergenerational approaches benefit dementia friendly communities & Stuart Miller from the Food Train will inspire us with their Meal Makers project which brings together those who love to cook and share food, with older people.

Delegates will have the opportunity to pick a morning and afternoon workshop from a variety of workshops including:

Morning workshops 11:00am-12:20pm
1. Shared spaces, connecting communities
2. Inclusive communication – it makes sense
3. Education & Life Long Learning – Intergenerational Projects to Intergenerational Schools & Silver City Surfers
4. Young Start CONNECTED projects

Afternoon workshops 13:30-14:50
5. Old School, Oxford Academy
6. Building effective networks
7. Intergenerational Projects – Food for Life & Cycling without Age
8. Successes of working together

At approximatley 3.30pm GWT will present the 2017 Recognition Awards which celebrate and recognise outstanding talent, commitment and inspirational involvement of workers, volunteers and groups who promote Intergenerational activities.

This year there are five categories:

  1. New Intergenerational Project (Less than 12months)
  2. Established Intergenerational Project (Greater than 1 year)
  3. Outstanding volunteer contributing to intergenerational work
  4. Building successful partnerships through intergenerational work
  5. Yvonne Coull Local Network Coordinators Award

Application forms and guidelines are now available and must be completed and returned by Wednesday 25th January 2017.
