Cities: Key contributors to CO2 emissions yet catalysts for climate action

Currently responsible for around 75% of global CO2 emissions, cities – and in particular the transport systems and office buildings – play a pivotal role in the world’s response to the climate crisis. In addition to being central to the transformation to inclusive and green economies, cities are also at the forefront of efforts to empower local communities with the knowledge and skills that are needed to break long-established patterns of unsustainable consumption, production and mobility.

Webinar information

This webinar will focus on climate assemblies as non-partisan groups that are brought together to develop local solutions to climate challenges, thus helping to pave the way for climate neutrality across the globe. Climate assemblies comprise a diverse consort of everyday people who, together, produce tailored policy recommendations to respond to the climate crisis. 

The webinar will explore the efficacy of climate assemblies for greening communities as well as what can be done to facilitate their work. It will highlight the educative experience of being involved in a climate assembly, along with how members can become change agents with the power to positively influence the behaviours of their families and the wider community.
