PRIA - Launching our knowledge products

Launching our knowledge products: E-book on 'Strengthening Community University Research Partnerships: GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES’ & User’s manual on ‘Institutionalizing Community University Research Partnerships'.

The UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research is pleased to present before you, the two knowledge products emerging out of the IDRC supported study on Community University Research Partnerships. This research study investigated the structures that have been put in place for the facilitation and support of respectful and effective research partnerships between Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).

The e-book, which is an open access publication, features 25 contributing authors, is rich with documented evidence including twelve country case studies, and an overview of a global survey administered in over fifty countries and four languages. All point to a trend that HEIs, CSOs and policy makers are paying attention to engaged scholarship and the co-creation of knowledge. It is a trend that is growing.

The manual is meant to serve both as a handy reference and a ready tool kit for university and college administrators who are interested in establishing and improving such partnerships in their institutions. It provides practical guidelines and steps that will help deliver on policy commitments made to promote Community University Engagement/Community University Research Partnerships in higher educational institutions.

Dr Budd Hall & Dr Crystal Tremblay share more about the study and the book in a video presentation, which, along with the literary products, is featured here: http://unescochair-cbrsr.org/unesco/publications/

You can download the book and the manual from this page by a single click (also available in the resources section of the UNESCO Chair website), and also view the video promotion at the same place. The video can also be viewed on YouTube.
