Project for Public Spaces | Last Call for Proposals for Walk/Bike/Places 2020!

This newsletter from the Project for Public Spaces connects people who share a passion for public spaces to ideas and issues, news, quotes, places, and events from the placemaking movement.

Now that it’s 2020, this means we’re already excited about Walk/Bike/Places taking place in Indianapolis this year. After a long holiday stretch, we have decided to extend the Call for Proposals for Walk/Bike/Places 2020 until January 6th, 2020 @ 8pm EST. Be sure to submit if you wish to speak at the event this year!

In true New Year’s fashion, we are pushing you to be proactive. 2020’s conference will focus on implementation, and we are calling on experts and advocates to make the most out of the deadline extension by putting together a proposal that features knowledge and expertise on how to "get stuff done." We seek -- with your help -- to build a program that will focus on turning ideas into action. Now that you have an idea about what kind of work needs to be done and where, whose voices need to be elevated, and which partners and stakeholders to reach out to in order to share and advocate for your vision… what’s next? You tell us. Learn all about the proposal formats and process on the Walk/Bike/Places website here.

Walk/Bike/Places is the premier conference in North America for walking, bicycling and placemaking professionals from the public and private sectors. With over 1200 attendees and held every two years, the event is a unique conference experience that combines experiential learning from walking and biking the streets of the host city, and learning from its most vibrant places through nearly 100 expert-led breakout sessions and locally-led workshops.

After the great success of two conferences in 2019 -- the 10th International Public Markets Conference and the 3rd International Placemaking Week -- we’re excited to kick off the new decade with our largest and longest running event.

Walk/Bike/Places 2020 will take place on August 4–7, 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Indiana Convention Center. We hope to see you there!
